Linda A. Mills is corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman’s Information Systems sector, an approximately $8.4 billion leading global provider of advanced solutions for defense, intelligence, civil agency and commercial customers.
In this role, Mills oversees large-scale enterprise solutions and business operations in areas such as global command, control and communications; cyber security and identity management; homeland security; health, public safety and enterprise infrastructure; and business transformation. She is also a member of the company’s corporate policy council.
During her career with Northrop Grumman, Mills has held numerous positions of increasing scope and responsibility to become one of the top female executives in the nation. Prior to her current role, Mills was corporate vice president and president of the company’s former Information Technology (IT) sector, overseeing business operations in such areas as homeland security, health, public safety and enterprise business transformation. Earlier, Mills was president of Northrop Grumman former IT sector’s Civilian Agencies business group. The group provided enterprisewide network solutions and IT systems development, integration, services, program management and consulting to federal government agencies, helping them serve the public and protect the homeland. Prior to this position, Mills was vice president for Operations and Processes for the former IT sector. Before joining the former IT sector, Mills was vice president of Mission Assurance/Six Sigma at Northrop Grumman’s former Mission Systems sector, where she led the strategy, planning and execution for Six Sigma to increase customer satisfaction through streamlined operations and improved quality.
Mills was awarded the Northrop Grumman CEO Leadership Award in 2000, 2001 and 2005, and was also honored as one of Profiles in Diversity Journal’s “Women Worth Watching in 2007” and its “CEO Leadership in Action” award in 2011 for her leadership achievements. She was also listed as one of “Washington’s Top 100 Tech Titans” by the Washingtonian Magazine in 2009. Mills was also honored with the 2009 Woman of the Year Award by Learning for Life and the Boy Scouts of America, National Capital Area Council. In 2010, Mills received the Alumni Award for Distinguished Service from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College of Engineering for outstanding leadership and management in providing critical, large-scale IT services to military, government and corporate clients.
Mills serves on the boards of the Northern Virginia Technology Council and the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, the board of visitors for the University of Illinois College of Engineering and the board of advisors for the Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot high school cybersecurity competition. Mills has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Santa Clara and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Illinois.
