Tom Vice is corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman’s Technical Services sector, a recognized leader in integrated logistics and modernization, defense and government services and training solutions, with more than 19,500 employees. He is also a member of the company’s corporate policy council.
In this role, Vice leads businesses located at more than 300 locations in all 50 states and 29 countries, supporting a diverse customer base, including Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, Department of the Interior and NASA. The Technical Services sector provides life-cycle solutions, logistical support, quick reaction capabilities, sustainment, infrastructure and range operations, training support and services integral to national and global security. Internationally, Technical Services has approximately 5,000 employees located throughout Southwest Asia and the Middle East supporting the Global War on Terrorism as well as multiple locations in Africa, Asia and Europe.
Vice most recently served as sector vice president and general manager of the Battle Management and Engagement Systems division for Northrop Grumman Corporation's Aerospace Systems sector. In this role, Vice led programs in airborne early warning, airborne ground surveillance, information operations and electronic warfare, maritime systems integration, broad area maritime surveillance and coastal warfare, airborne mine countermeasures, and battle management systems.
Previously, Vice served as sector vice president for the former Integrated Systems sector’s Eastern Region, and before that as vice president, Airborne Early Warning and Battle Management Command and Control - Navy programs, also for the former Integrated Systems sector. He also served as sector vice president, Business Development; sector vice president, Operations; sector vice president, Materiel; and vice president, Business and Advanced Systems Development for the sector’s Air Combat Systems business area. Vice joined Northrop Grumman as an engineer on the B-2 program in 1986.
Vice received his Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California. He has completed numerous advanced management programs, including the Advanced Program Management course at the Defense Systems Management College; Strategic Marketing of Technology Products and Management of Technology and Innovation programs – both at the California Institute of Technology; Executive Marketing at the UCLA Anderson School and the Corporate Strategy Management Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Vice is on the board of trustees for the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fla., is on the board of advisors for Purdue University’s School of Astronautics and Aeronautics, and sits on the board of directors for the Astronauts Memorial Foundation.
