Northrop Grumman provides Time and Materials (T&M) contract service for the Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) Space Sector projects to support a variety of engineering and technical support as requested by APL. Typical areas of interest include mechanical engineering, thermal and structural analysis, propulsion, and mechanical and thermal technician support. Through this contract Northrop Grumman has provided both broad and niche engineering expertise to key Space Sector programs including Solar Probe Plus (SPP), Radiation Belt Storm Probes (RBSP), and Europa Clipper. Northrop Grumman has supported APL Engineers in solving technical challenges on these programs including those related to the design and analysis of solar array mechanisms, the design of a robotic lander, and structural and thermal analysis of high temperature material components. Specialized support to these flight programs has included the development of models for Coupled Loads Analysis (CLA) using the Craig-Bampton Method, acoustics analysis, and on-orbit thermal distortion analysis.
