Enhancing services for an expanding mission

Our public safety experience and end-to-end IT expertise have made Northrop Grumman the ideal resource to support the expanding mission and IT needs of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS), formerly the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Through a blanket purchase agreement, we are providing the BCIS with IT infrastructure support for its 40,000 desktops as well as sustaining their networks and ADP equipment.

The BCIS recently moved from the Department of Justice to the Department of Homeland Security. With the new home have come new responsibilities. To help meet its evolving border enforcement and immigration missions, the BCIS is using technology to bring together its various bureaus and divisions. A key part of this effort is the creation of an integrated network backbone with common processes for support to the 45,000-person agency's 110 sites at ports of entry, border crossings, and immigration offices across the U.S. and overseas.

Working through BCIS's Technology Enterprise Automation Management Support (TEAMS) contract, Northrop Grumman is supplying the full spectrum of IT and systems integration services needed to develop, implement, operate, and support the new network and its users. In most respects, this is a "managed services" contract. We provide centralized help-desk support, network operation and security operation controls from our facility in Lafayette, Colorado. We also maintain automated data processing operations, which run agency mission and management systems in Washington, D.C. and monitoring operations in Dallas, Texas.

Among the many IT services we provide to the BCIS are:

  • IT infrastructure development and integration
  • Hardware maintenance
  • Asset management
  • Desktop and server management
  • Network management and monitoring
  • Automated data processing operations
  • Day-to-day security support
  • Help desk support
  • Security Operations, intrusion monitoring and security engineering
  • Compliance assurance with government security policies
  • Training for COTS and custom INS applications
This contract (BPA) has the capability to provide support to all of the new DHS organization.
