Topographic Production Capability

Northrop Grumman engineers, develops, and integrates geospatial solutions and information systems for the United States Marine Corps System Command. Northrop Grumman is the Prime Contractor for the Marine Corps Topographic Production Capability (TPC) Program, which provides critical terrain information to commanders at all levels to support their decision-making process. We understand the importance of standard software and systems engineering processes. The Northrop Grumman Team has the technical experience and vision to design and develop the TPC as a fully integrated component to the Marine Corps and the Joint Warfighting environment.

The TPC is a modular and portable geographic information and image processing system designed to provide geospatial intelligence support to the Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEFs), the Marine Expeditionary Units (MEUs), and other special purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) operations. The TPC provides the capability to produce products such as line-of-sight, cross-country mobility, terrain visualization, and other tailored analyses in support of the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB) process. The TPC is the primary tool for the Geographic Intelligence Specialist located within each MEF Topographic Platoon, the Marine Corps Intelligence Activity, Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC), The Chemical-Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) and The School of Geospatial-Intelligence (TSG).

The TPC configuration provides a tiered architecture that consists of the Tactical Geospatial Information Library (TGIL), the Deployable Geospatial Information Library (DGIL)-Server (DGIL-S), the DGIL-Workstation (DGIL-W), the Digital Terrain Analysis Mapping System (DTAMS), the DTAMS-Light (DTAMS-L) and the Geodetic Survey Set (GSS). The TGIL configuration serves as the primary data repository of geospatial information for the area of responsibility of each MEF. The DGIL-S and DGILW provide ready access to working tactical data sets in support of geospatial intelligence production. The DTAMS and DTAMS-L provide direct support to a MEU or other special purpose MAGTFs. The GSS equipment contains Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and Total Station Theodolites.
