You train. And you grow. And you learn. And you train some more. In fact, at Northrop Grumman, development never stops—there’s just too much at stake.

Safeguarding the world isn’t an easy job. But we can’t think of any job more worthwhile. Here’s how we do it:

Career Development
Our career development programs help employees build new skills. LEAD1NG, for example, creates leaders by encouraging learning through personal experiences. Another successful program is our Learning Exchange Resource Center, which provides access to learning resources and career development planning.

Training
Our online learning management system gives you access to learning resources and growth opportunities, and helps track your progress and close competency gaps. We also offer an e-Learning portal available 24/7, which creates customized development plans and course selection based on your career goals.

Education
Our generous Education Assistance program helps employees pursue college or post-baccalaureate studies that relate to their roles at the company.

Career Planning
We’ll help with everything from mapping out your career path to updating your resume and practicing interview questions for internal opportunities. For developing specific, targeted skills, we provide online coaching and development advice, including action steps, resources, and planning templates.

Mentoring
Whether assigned or informal, mentoring is vital in developing talent at all levels, transferring knowledge, providing career guidance, and fostering an inclusive culture.

Functional Talent Development
The Systems Engineering Associates Program is a selective two-year developmental rotation program for high-potential people interested in systems engineering. The Future Technical Leaders Program is an invitation-only, three-year recruiting and professional development opportunity for new graduates. The program includes on-the-job training, networking, and mentoring by experts in the field. The Professional Development Program is open to recent college graduates focusing on engineering and manufacturing, business management, and supply chain management. Rotating assignments offer the chance to explore a variety of fields.

Performance Management
Perform1NG, our performance management process, creates a performance culture by focusing on employee development. Managers and employees discuss development frequently to support improvement in current assignments and future job opportunities.

Center for Leadership
We’ve created a wealth of programs to support leadership development for our employees at all levels. Our 360 Feedback Instrument allows leaders to receive confidential feedback from managers and coworkers. Executive Education offers classes and training focused on leadership. Leadership Coaching accelerates performance by pairing you with a trained, certified coach to establish targeted goals and uncover your blind spots.
