The nominee must be a full-time or part-time (20+ hours per week) Northrop Grumman employee.
Can a team of Northrop Grumman employee volunteers be nominated for the Excellence in Volunteerism award?
Yes, eligible organizations may nominate a team of Northrop Grumman employee volunteers. Each nominee must be a full-time or part-time (20+ hours per week) Northrop Grumman employee.
Is contract labor staff eligible for nomination?
No, contract labor staff cannot be nominated for an Excellence in Volunteerism award.
Who can nominate a Northrop Grumman employee for the Excellence in Volunteerism award?
The nominator is the nonprofit organization or accredited public school for whom the Northrop Grumman employee volunteers.
Can employees nominate other employees?
Employees can nominate a fellow employee for an Excellence in Volunteerism award only if they are doing so on behalf of an eligible nonprofit organization or accredited public school.
What types of organizations are eligible?
Eligibility is limited to 501(c)3 nonprofit, non-partisan and non-religious organizations and accredited public schools. International nonprofit, non-religious, non-partisan organizations or accredited public school institutions that can be vetted through United Way Worldwide's international giving program are also eligible.
Are faith-based organizations eligible to nominate an employee volunteer?
Yes, if the organization is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)3 community service entity that does not limit services to followers of a particular religion, nor require participation in religious instruction as a condition for receiving services.
How were the award criteria determined?
The criteria were determined by the company’s Corporate Citizenship mission statement: To enhance and strengthen the Northrop Grumman brand by building sustainable, mutually beneficial partnerships between the company and key stakeholders. In addition, the award criteria was reviewed and approved by the Northrop Grumman Corporate Citizenship Council.
What is the nomination process?
Nonprofit organizations and accredited public schools for which the employee volunteers must complete the nomination form online by May 17, 2013.
What is the deadline to submit the nomination?
May 17, 2013.
What is the selection process?
Nomination forms will first be reviewed by Northrop Grumman staff and then forwarded to an external selection committee comprised of representatives from philanthropic organizations that will make the final selection.
When will there be an update on the status of my submitted nomination form?
All nomination packages will be reviewed in June and July. Participants will receive an update on the status of their nomination in August.
How many awardees will be selected?
There will be 10 Excellence in Volunteerism award winners. The nominating organizations of the award winners will receive a grant.
Will there be a recognition event?
The awardees and their volunteer organization will be recognized at the awardees’ work location. Further details will be provided to the awardees.
