Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Chief Technologist to lead our team of multi-disciplinary professionals developing world-class Communication, Navigation and Identification (CNI) systems in a structured environment to meet our customers high expectations. You will participate in all aspects of the software defined, hardware enabled radio system development lifecycle including requirements, design, development, hardware integration, system test, deployment, production, and sustainment  for our multi-function F-35 CNI programs. This position will be located in San Diego, CA at the Rancho Carmel location.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Leads and mentors multidisciplinary hardware, software, and digital engineering teams to conceptualize, develop and sustain a software-defined multi-function RF system over its full lifecycle with an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness.
Leads and mentors new technology and innovations pertinent to advance technical aspects of design, development, demonstration and maintenance of hardware, software, firmware, digital components, and computing systems to meet engineering, scientific and manufacturing requirements of the F-35 CNI product line.
Acts independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of the F-35 CNI product line
Design research and develop highly advanced new applications resulting in new product/business opportunities.
Serves as consultant to top management in long-range company planning concerning new or projected areas of technological research and advancements. Prime spokesperson on company's technical capabilities and future directions for the F-35 CNI product line.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
20+ Years with Bachelors in Science; 18+ Years with Masters; 15+ Years with PhD. Expertise and experience in developing complex, multi-function software-defined, hardware-enabled digital radio system solutions using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), digital signal processing, mixed signal components, and supporting radio and embedded software technology.
Must have full F-35 CNI development lifecycle experience including rigorous processess for requirements, design, implementation, verification, production readiness and technology export.
Must have strong track record of innovative thinking built upon a foundation of proven hands-on development, integration and troubleshooting skills.
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills for both internal programs and external customer management contact. Excellent customer relationship management skills. US citizenship and active DoD secret clearance required.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven track record of successful technology refresh and continuous product improvement leadership
Previous experience with technology refresh and innovations for the F-35 CNI product line.
