Roles and Responsibilities:

 

Web Application Security Analyst (WASA)  performing security assessments against web applications for vulnerabilities, security misconfigurations, and compliance-related concerns

Utilize a variety of industry standard security tools to conduct manual-based security assessments

Utilize a variety of industry standard security tools to conduct automated scans against web applications

Review new vulnerabilities as they are published and develop impact assessments

Determine risk from vulnerabilities based on availability of exploit and potential loss of information and IT services capabilities

Produce periodic trending and impact reports

Generate detailed reports (automated and manual) based on results from assessments and have the ability to explain in detail to customers

Develop new testing programs

Manage and perform maintenance of backend systems hardware and software

Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) top 10

Administer existing and future infrastructure including system maintenance and management

Manage and maintain Government owned virtual platforms (VM), operating systems, and applications

Demonstrated experience and knowledge with multiple of the following:

1. Support Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems

2. VMWare

3. IBM AppScan

4. Burp Proxy Suite

5. Kali Linux Suite

6. RedHat Enterprise Linux

7. Nessus Scanner

8. NMAP

9. Core Impact Pro

10. Database Management Systems; SQL, Oracle, Mongo, MySQL

11. Web languages and technologies; including but not limited to PHP, Python, JavaScript, Java, Ruby, PERL, ASP, .NET, HTML, CSS

12. SharePoint development

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Engineer or related field and minimum 2 years of experience. Additional 4 years of experience will be accepted in lieu of the degree.
  • 2 years of experience  performing security assessments against web applications for vulnerabilities, security misconfigurations, and compliance-related concerns
  • Certification in one of the following (Security+, Network+, VA CSP, CISSP, C:EH) or 5 years of experience overrides certification requirement.
  • Must be able to obtain a Veterans Affairs High Security Investigation (VA BI)
  • Must be a US citizen or Green Card Holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Knowledge in a public health environment
  • Knowledge of VA culture, mission, and IT environment
