AUSTIN, Texas – Visit the interactive James Webb Space Telescope exhibit at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Gaming Expo at the Austin Convention Center March 17-19, 2016. Hosted by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) and the Space Telescope Science Institute, the Webb Telescope exhibit is free to the public and will feature a 55-inch touch screen display that will show science visualizations and other videos. Visitors can talk with scientists and engineers who will share how Webb will inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers to push the boundaries of science and technology. The Webb Telescope is NASA’s top science program in development that will allow scientists to peer ever farther into the cosmos, seeing things no previous telescope can see and explore the formation of the first stars and galaxies. The James Webb Space Telescope exhibit at SXSW will be open to the general public from Thursday, March 17, through Saturday, March 19. Media are invited to interview Northrop Grumman scientists and engineers about the tennis-court sized space telescope that will change our understanding of the universe.

Free and open to the public (no badge required). Visit the JWST exhibit inside the Austin Convention Center during the following dates/times:

  • Thursday, March 17, 2016 from Noon to 8 p.m.
  • Friday, March 18, 2016 from Noon to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 19, 2016 from Noon to 8 p.m.

Also, on Sunday, March 13 from 11 a.m. – noon at the Westin Austin Downtown , Paramount 2-3, 301 E 5th ST, check out the SXSW Interactive panel, "“Extreme Science: NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope.” A dynamic panel of experts from Northrop Grumman, NASA and the Space Telescope Science Institute will discuss the various aspects of building, assembling, and testing the largest telescope to ever be launched into space: the James Webb Space Telescope. As the scientific successor to the beloved Hubble Space Telescope, the Webb Telescope will explore uncharted territories in the first epoch of galaxy formation--a part of our Universe never seen before. The James Webb Space Telescope will also have the amazing capability to study exoplanet atmospheres in unprecedented detail.
