Dr. John Stillion

Dr. John Stillion is a former U.S. Air Force officer with extensive experience as a tactical aviator (RF-4C Weapons System Officer), tactics officer, and instructor navigator. He holds advanced degrees in Political Science (Stanford University) and Public Policy Analysis (Pardee RAND Graduate School). Within the Analysis Center his work involves assessing issues and trends related to land- and carrier- based ISR and Strike systems and future concepts for employing unmanned air systems. 

Prior to joining Northrop Grumman he was a senior researcher at the RAND Corporation where he contributed to or led research teams investigating a broad spectrum of topics including the effects of WMD on airbase operations; the impact of peace operations deployments on unit readiness and quality of life; advanced concepts for employing airpower in military operations other than war, urban environment, and against elusive targets. 

He played a key leadership role in several analyses supporting major weapon system acquisition programs, including an advanced gunship and KC-135 replacement. He has also conducted extensive analysis of the implications of the proliferation of precision strike systems and other advanced technologies for future U.S. air operations.
