Northrop Grumman People are taking the time to teach and inspire young people. They know that an adult who guides a young person can affect the quality of a life for a lifetime.
United Service Organizations (USO)
Northrop Grumman Corporation is proud and dedicated to provide services and support to the USO. We have supported the USO Care Package program since 2003. Employees volunteer their time on the weekends to stuff care packages for military personnel in the California National Guard, Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition to this program, Northrop Grumman is the founding sponsor of the new USO-Dulles International Airport Lounge in Washington DC. The 750 square-foot lounge provides a home away from home for thousands of military travelers and their families who pass through each year. Furthermore, in San Diego, Ca. we have donated funds to make-over the USO Downtown Center.
High School Involvement Partnership (HIP)
Over 6,000 Southern California high school seniors have graduated from "HIP" since it began in 1971. Northrop Grumman's High School Involvement Partnership (HIP) provides students with on-the-job training in a variety of career disciplines at the company facilities. Students selected for HIP’s 17-week internship work alongside Northrop Grumman employees. These employees volunteer to teach specific technical and non-technical skills and provide guidance in their areas of expertise. HIP students also attend workshops on career related topics including business ethics and job development.
Some HIP graduates have gone on to receive Northrop Grumman scholarships, and secure summer jobs and even full-time employment at the company.
Northrop Grumman's HIP has earned the President's Service Award in 1996 and 2005, the highest U.S. presidential honor for volunteerism.
March of Dimes WalkAmerica
Northrop Grumman has participated in the March of Dimes WalkAmerica Campaign for a decade. The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. To that end, Northrop Grumman has given close to $3 million to support the mission.
Special Olympics
Employees offer their time and enthusiasm to help children and adults with disabilities develop themselves physically, socially, psychologically, intellectually and spiritually through sports training and competition.
Boys and Girls Club
In support of your development in Jackson County Mississippi, and of "America's Promise - The Alliance for Youth", Northrop Grumman's Ship Systems has adopted The Boys and Girls Clubs of Jackson County, and pledged additional support for the organization, including 1,000 hours of volunteer support for local youth programs.
