Education Outreach Initiatives
Out of the Box Engineering
Across the country, Northrop Grumman volunteers will be visiting classrooms to promote science, technology, engineering and math education. Outfitted with an Out of the Box Engineering toolkit, employees will have videos, posters and activities to share with students.
CyberPatriot
CyberPatriot is the premier national high school cyber defense competition created to inspire high school students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation’s future. High School Involvement Partnership (HIP)
High School Involvement Partnership (HIP) was established in 1971, partnering with our community schools, with nearly 7,000 students benefitting from this program. High School seniors participate in this "hands-on" job training program for 17 weeks and earn high school credit. HIP has been recognized by the President's Service Award in 1996 and again in 2005, when 35 employees were also recognized by the President for their commitment to this program. In addition, the program has received numerous awards for Northrop Grumman's commitment to partnering with our schools, including awards from California's Congress and State Assembly.
Partner in Education Program
The Northrop Grumman’s Space Park facility in Redondo Beach engages the education community through its Partner in Education program, which is a formal partnership with five local schools located in culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged neighborhoods in the South Bay of Los Angeles. Through this program, the company provides financial and educational resources to help meet the schools’ educational needs.
Also, to inspire young people to set goals and one day maybe even become a scientist or engineer, Northrop Grumman makes its facilities available to local schools for tours.
