FIBER OPTIC ACOUSTIC SENSOR PORTFOLIO

Northrop Grumman Corporation has built up a portfolio of fiber optic acoustic technology that is the best in the industry. This portfolio contains 76 patents covering the sensor, telemetry, demodulation, hydrophones, system architecture, and manufacturing processes and methods. The breadth of this portfolio is complemented by previously demonstrated hardware, software algorithms, system architectures, manufacturing capabilities, and experienced personnel, all of which strengthen the value of this technology in the commercial marketplace. Fiber Optic Acoustic Sensors are especially suited for the Energy Marketplace, specifically the petroleum and gas exploration and extraction segment which must have the capability of operating in several types of extreme environments with the highest fidelity available.

MAMMOGRAPHY PORTFOLIO

Six different patents covering medical imaging and comparison technology for use with various types of mammography analysis are available for commercial utilization. These patents provide both three dimensional (3D) positioning and multiple input comparisons. These patents can utilize the Northrop Grumman optical correlator technology to provide high speed real-time analysis if needed.

SUPER CONDUCTING ELECTRONICS PORTFOLIO

This portfolio of 64 patents in super conducting electronics has very broad coverage with potential commercial interest. The major areas of interest are A/D converters, device structures, analog or digital circuit structures, packaging structures, and analog signal processing applications. The utilization of this technology can help solve various power, speed, and capacity problems facing the electronics industry today.

CERAMIC MATRIX PORTFOLIO

This portfolio contains 53 patents covering over 22 fields of use in the commercial marketplace. The Northrop Grumman ceramic matrix technology allows for the manufacture of strong but light, high heat resistant parts. The technology covers a very broad field from automotive engine parts and brakes to ceramic foam panels. This technology is especially suited for long life, extreme environment conditions.

NIGHT VISION PORTFOLIO

The night vision portfolio contains 62 patents which provide all aspects of night vision technology for the commercial marketplace. Various types, mounts, and adapters are included in the portfolio to provide technology for most critical elements of any night vision product.

RFID PORTFOLIO

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is rapidly becoming a requirement for the shipping and commercial retail manufacturing world. This portfolio of 18 patents covers many of the aspects required for product tracking in the near future. These include everything from personal identification fobs and wrist straps to RF antennae and communication protocols.

SOFTWARE QUALITY OF SERVICE PORTFOLIO

Two patents are available for commercial licensing. They provide both a wireless communications architecture and a methodology for routing packets based on required quality of service parameters. The ability to optimize network performance and potentially reduce network infrastructure costs make these patents stand out for licensing to commercial network providers.

OPTICAL CORRELATOR PORTFOLIO

A portfolio of over 30 patents with hardware and know-how makes the Northrop Grumman optical correlator technology a very promising commercial licensing candidate. The ability to compare images at very high speeds provides a basic capability for real time medical imaging, document comparison, fingerprint identification, robotic vision, and communications switching.

HOLOGRAPHIC MEMORY PORTFOLIO

A 17 patent portfolio of holographic memory with positioning and methods technology provides the base for future work in bulk data storage. The ability to store terabytes of memory in holographic form and rapidly retrieve it from a dense storage medium creates the basis for extremely large data storage capabilities needed to archive digital movies, books, and tapes, store historic government records, maintain and recover metro area surveillance video, and others.
