The U.S. Air Force's KC-45 Tanker aircraft will be assembled and militarized in Mobile, Alabama, and will employ 48,000 American workers at 230 U.S. companies in 49 states. It will be built by a world-class industrial team led by Northrop Grumman, and includes EADS North America, General Electric Aviation, Sargent Fletcher, Honeywell, Goodrich, Parker, Knight Aerospace, AAR Cargo Systems and Telephonics.
The aircraft is based on the A330 Multi-role Tanker Transport, which was selected in all five tanker competitions; to support the air forces of the United Sates, Australia, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
