Karl J. Krapek Elected Karl J. Krapek is former president and chief operating officer of United Technologies Corporation (UTC).

Mr. Krapek retired as president and chief operating officer of United Technologies Corporation in January 2002. Mr. Krapek had been with UTC for 20 years serving in various management positions. He first served UTC, beginning in 1982, as vice president of Operations for the Otis Elevator Company and became its president in 1989. He was chairman, president and CEO of Carrier Corporation in 1990 and became president and CEO of Pratt & Whitney in 1992. He was named executive vice president and a director of UTC in 1997. Prior to joining UTC, he was manager of Car Assembly Operations for the Pontiac Motor Car Division of General Motors Corporation and project manager of the Fiero Sports Car.

He is lead director of The Connecticut Bank and Trust Company, a director of Prudential Financial, Inc. and is the lead director of Visteon Corporation. He was formerly a director of Alcatel-Lucent and Delta Airlines.

Mr. Krapek was elected to the Northrop Grumman Board of Directors in 2008.
