In support of the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC),
a command subordinate to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA),
the MDIOC-Consolidated Research and Development Center (CRDC)
is responsible for the development, implementation, integration,
test and sustainment of local and distributed forms of high-fidelity
modeling and simulation capabilities.
MDIOC-CRDC is responsible for the application of these modeling
and simulations tools in the support of planning, analysis
and execution of technology demonstrations, joint exercises,
and integrated system-level tests to a wide variety of government
and government-sponsored users aimed at producing data for
the development, acquisition and deployment decisions required
of a Ballistic Missile Defense system or the research and
development decisions of other users.
As a prime contractor to MDA, Northrop Grumman Mission
Systems supports the development and application of local
and distributed modeling and simulation, wargaming, test
and analytic tools for both national and theater air and
missile defense. In addition to performing mission-related
technical tasks, Mission Systems is responsible for the
infrastructure, including all of the automated data processing
equipment and communications, and facility operations including
security systems, maintenance, cafeteria and janitorial
services.
The MDIOC has become the nation's premier missile defense
wargaming center, offering the warfighting CINCs a unique,
one-of-a-kind environment for evaluating Concepts of Operation.
The facility links DOD sites (representing all three services)
around the nation allowing geographically dispersed centers
to engage in shared missile defense command and control
simulations.
