In the UK, Northrop Grumman has a strong presence with a heritage going back nearly 100 years.Today the company provides avionics, communications, electronic warfare systems, marine navigation systems, C4I solutions and mission planning, aircraft whole life support, robotics, IT systems and software development.
Current Activities
Current UK programmes include:
- Whole life support for the RAF’s fleet of Sentry E-3D Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft based at RAF Waddington
- Supply, maintenance and repair (through a strategic partnership with Selex Sensors and Airborne Systems) of Directional Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) systems installed on many RAF aircraft types
- Development and manufacture of unmanned ground vehicles for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), including CUTLASS – the next generation robotic vehicle for the MoD
- Provision of the IDENT1 biometric identification service for the Police, an integrated finger and palm print system with flexible architecture and nationwide computing infrastructure
- Design, development, supply and through life support of the Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) for all UKType 45 Destroyers, provision of the IPMS system for Astute class submarine boat 4 and the Integrated Navigation Bridge System (INBS) for the Queen Elizabeth class future aircraft carrier project, as well as the supply and support of inertial navigation systems for SSN submarines
- Software support services for NATO’s Maritime Command and Control Information System (MCCIS) programme
- Provision of Command and Control for the PC (C2PC) and Interoperable C4I Services (ICS) applications for common tactical picture command and control and situational awareness. C2PC is the user interface/core functionality for the MoD’s Joint Operations Command System (JOCS) and Royal Navy Command Support System (RNCSS)
- Design, development and implementation of the new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system for the London Ambulance Service to handle emergency calls and ambulance movements

Integrated airspace communication, navigation and surveillance solutions, including complete air traffic control systems.
