Northrop Grumman has well-established businesses and a range of programme interests in Europe, including Norway, where we deliver proven and trusted defence and security capabilities to government and commercial customers.

Northrop Grumman has a long history of partnership with Norway that spans more than 75 years. It began in 1940 when we provided twenty-four Northrop N-3PB float plane aircraft for the Royal Norwegian Air Force’s 330 Squadron based in Iceland, which were operated in the maritime surveillance role.

Since then we have been delivering innovative technologies to support Norway’s defence and national security requirements. Norway was the first international customer for the highly successful Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter aircraft, a platform that it operated for more than 30 years. Northrop Grumman supplies world-class radar sensor and platform protection technology for the Royal Norwegian Air Force F-16 aircraft, as well as operationally-enabling equipment to the P3C Orion and other essential military systems. We continue to grow through new opportunities and industrial collaboration with Kongsberg Defence Systems, on programmes including F-35 Lightning II and NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) system.

As a principal partner for the F-35 not only do we provide the central fuselage, the radar, and much of the aircraft’s situational awareness, but also the communications and battlespace networks capability. We are also the pre-eminent provider of high altitude long endurance unmanned air systems (UAS) and we have core industry-leading capabilities and experience in data management, open systems networks, tactical communications, and cyber security.

We maintain an active presence in Norway through our subsidiary Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine in Bergen which is responsible for the sales, repair and service of marine navigation systems. We are a member of FSI and AMCHAM Norway.
