The largest tanker in the world, the KC-10 Extender fleet of 59 aircraft supports worldwide operations in dual capacity as a tanker and cargo transport. The fleet comprises approximately 13 percent of the U.S. Air Force's refueling fleet, and provides more than 36 percent of the offloaded fuel to U.S. and NATO warfighters while moving approximately 7,800 tons of cargo annually.

With the help of our suppliers, dedicated Northrop Grumman employees provide 24/7 global logistics support for the KC-10 to include:

  • Comprehensive supply chain management
  • Engine management, overhaul and repair
  • Aircraft depot maintenance and field teams
  • Field service representatives and ground support equipment support
  • Engineering support services

On average, Northrop Grumman delivers 29 scheduled depot maintenance aircraft and 46 engines per year.

A proud partner of the U.S. Air Force (USAF), Northrop Grumman leverages a unique relationship with the Lake Charles, Louisiana Chennault International Airport. The support of the Lake Charles community and Chennault International Airport Authority provides Northrop Grumman with a 1,050 acre aircraft maintenance center, a 10,700’ x 200’ Category 1 Instrument Landing System runway, a Federal Aviation Administration-accredited control tower, and 150 acres of ramps and hangers—all critical infrastructure necessary to perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the KC-10 fleet.

The KC-10 Contractor Logistics Support team’s worldwide operational support continues to raise the bar on mission readiness, resulting in excellent customer satisfaction. Our reliability improvements in engineering, depot and engine reliability and performance help the USAF’s Air Mobility Command achieve a 49-month sustained 85.0 percent mission capable rate average—the highest sustained rate for the KC-10 in more than 16 years.
