Northrop Grumman Integrated Defence Services (IDS) provides the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) 86 Wing, 33 Squadron with through-life support for its fleet of five KC-30A Multi-role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft—a derivative of the Airbus A330-200—located at RAAF Amberley.

The MRTT conversion program was completed within our Brisbane Maintenance and Modification Center and represents one of the largest and most complicated aviation programs conducted in Australia, requiring more than 100,000 man hours per aircraft to convert each green A330-200 airliner into a KC-30A tanker.

Northrop Grumman IDS is the only non-original equipment manufacturer to have successfully converted, completed entry into service, and implemented through-life support for the KC-30A MRTT fleet.

Our motivated and skilled KC-30A workforce of more than 190 employees provides scalable and adaptable support to meet the needs of our customers and industry partners and has earned many civil and military accreditations and ISO certifications to perform all KC-30A maintenance and engineering activities.

To deliver KC-30A MRTT through-life support, Northrop Grumman IDS maintains a close working relationship with the RAAF and the Heavy Air Lift Systems Program Office.

The Northrop Grumman IDS team delivers all aspects of through-life support for the KC-30A fleet, with dedicated facilities, warehouses and our wholly owned BMMC located at Brisbane Airport for the most cost-effective performance outcomes for the highest level of fleet availability.

The RAAF is currently purchasing two additional KC-30A aircraft, with two more forecast. Northrop Grumman IDS will incorporate these aircraft into our KC-30A through-life support program when delivered.
