Structural Testing

At Northrop Grumman Test Services, we perform structural testing involving bending, tension, torsion and compression, as well as buckling, fatigue and failure testing. Our actuators are capable of 1.3M lbf tension and 1.9M lbf compression.

Pressure Testing

Northrop Grumman’s pressure testing capabilities include hydroproof/hydroburst pressurization up to 5,000 psi at 70 gpm. Our hydrotest facility can accommodate test articles up to 12 feet in diameter and 335 inches long and we perform pressure testing up to 10,000 psi using nitrogen or helium as a pressurizing medium.

Vacuum Chamber Testing

Northrop Grumman’s vacuum chamber testing capabilities include vacuum depressurization up to 1x10-12 psia. We utilize a mass spectrometer capable of detecting leak rates of tracer gas as low as 1x10-15 SCC/s. Northrop Grumman can test articles up to 93 inches long and 30 inches in diameter in our vacuum chambers. Up to 20 data channels are available via vacuum chamber feed-thru ports.
