21st Century Deterrence

The U.S. Air Force’s Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) is the weapon system replacement for the aging LGM-30 Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile system (ICBM). GBSD represents the modernization of the ground-based leg of the nuclear triad.

On Sept, 08, 2020 the U.S. Air Force awarded Northrop Grumman the GBSD Engineering and Manufacturing Development contract.

The Northrop Grumman nationwide team is developing innovative concepts, technologies, and solutions necessary to meet the Air Force schedule, while delivering a safe, secure, reliable, and effective GBSD system. Our team has invested significantly in the people, facilities and tools needed to be ready, and is committed to deliver a GBSD solution – on schedule – that meets the nation’s needs.

The GBSD nationwide team includes Aerojet Rocketdyne, Bechtel, CAE, Clark Construction, Collins Aerospace, General Dynamics, HDT, Honeywell, Kratos, Lockheed Martin, and Textron Systems along with hundreds of other small, medium and large businesses across the United States with extensive ICBM missile systems expertise.
