Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Manager, Supplier Quality 1 to join the sector Supplier Quality homeroom team.  This position will lead the Supplier Quality Field Engineering team.

 

As a key leader of the Supplier Quality team, this leader collaborates closely with the division Supplier Quality managers, as well as Quality & Mission Excellence and GSC leadership to provide strategic thought leadership and preventive solutions to ensure the quality of procured material and services. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success leading broad organization changes within cost and schedule while achieving internal customer expectations and focusing on organizational and team success. The position requires a solution-based orientation, unwavering ethics and values, and the demonstrated ability to be a trusted partner. 

 

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Provide clear assignments, help employees connect their efforts to the bigger picture, create an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and build a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance by providing clear and constructive feedback

  • Ensure organizational policies, procedures and work instructions are best in class and efficiently implemented

  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify and pursue systemic improvement opportunities

  • Develop organizational strategies to improve supplier quality organizational performance, resourcing, and create efficiencies

  • Serve as leader to develop appropriate metrics to drive improved performance

  • Collaboratively develop tools to improve efficiencies within the organization and improve visibility for both internal SQ and QME/GSC/PMO partners

  • Develop roadmap to drive continued improvements

  • Serve as leader within Supplier Quality organization to ensure progress to organizational improvement initiatives

  • Develop and instill data-driven processes to measure supplier quality performance

  • Promote the professional development of the Supplier Quality team and foster a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, technical, business, operations, manufacturing, supply chain or other related discipline

  • 5+ years of industry experience in Program or Project Management, Quality, Mission Assurance, Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering.

  • 1+ years of experience managing and/or leading teams.

  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and databases.

  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication, leadership and mentoring skills and confidence to brief upper management on a regular basis.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership characteristics

  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.

  • Experience in the oversight and management of suppliers, supplier evaluations and supplier metrics reporting.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the program / product lifecycle in the areas of supply chain management, operations, inventory control, production control, product test & evaluation, root cause analysis, product sell off, shipping and product support as they apply to quality.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.

  • Masters degree in an engineering or management field.

  • Defense Industry experience as a Program or Project Manager, Quality Manager, Supplier Quality Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Engineering Manager or Manufacturing Management

  • Lean / Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification to drive continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply strong analytical skills.
