Northrop Grumman is currently recruiting an RF Design and Characterization Engineer for our Kettering, OH location.
This position requires a highly motivated individual, able to follow direction from senior technical staff. Key roles include individual and team focused research, design, analysis, prototyping, test validation, and manufacturing support in the field of electromagnetic material and structures. Select candidates will work with complex electromagnetic materials, typical of Low Observable aerospace structures. Examples include loaded honeycomb core and/or similar core geometries, loaded foams and elastomers, MAGRAM, R-Cards, Circuit Analog sheets / absorbers, and Frequency Selective Surfaces. A solid foundation in electromagnetics, physics, and mathematics, along with exposure to various RF test equipment is desirable. Basic programming experience is also desirable (e.g. Matlab).  Applicants are responsible to monitor the quality of the materials produced, establishing test criteria to ensure that the end products meet specifications. Regular communication with cross-functional teams, management, and customers is expected to be successful.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance
  • BS Electrical Engineering and/or Physics (2yrs) or MS in Electrical Engineering and/or Physics
  • Problem Solver
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Function as an Individual Contributor or in a Cross-Functional Team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electromagnetics Fundamentals
  • Working experience with RF test equipment such as Network Analyzers, SCI-2K, Transmission Tunnel, Std Waveguides, Reflection Arch, and Resonant Cavities
  • Code development for data acquisition, instrument control, and data processing (e.g. Matlab)
  • Working experience with commercial EM analysis tools (e.g.  HFSS)
  • Active Secret level clearance preferred
