Description

 

 Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a research and development environment where youll work with cutting edge technologies  Do you enjoy looking at new ways of doing things  Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a System Administrator to support software development of a cutting edge environment to applications. These will be relative to the development and integration of leading edge Department of Defense (DoD)/U.S. Air Force (USAF) intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) collection, processing, exploitation, analysis and dissemination capabilities.

 

The Systems Administrator will work as member of a tightly integrated team to design, develop, implement, and maintain applications. Will develop detailed system configurations; and perform system administration, engineering and integration activities within an agile development process.

 

 

 

The Systems Administrator will maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with users and developers. Evaluate vendor products, coordinate installation and provide backup recovery. Set up administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, install system wide software and allocate mass storage space.

 

 

 

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, think independently and overcome technical challenges as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.  He/she will be capable of independently determining and developing technical approaches.  Will have excellent communication skills, the ability to interact with the customer, and provide team leadership. 

 

The candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following tasks:

 

 

 

  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems. Monitor and track trouble tickets and changes requests to ensure high quality customer service.
  • Collaborates with engineers, project managers, users, and InfoSec stakeholders to determine current/future needs/requirements.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use and maintenance of computing resources.
  • Performs weekly audits as directed by the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO).
  • Ensure system and data backups.
  • Supports the integration and test of hardware, software, subsystems, and systems in a test environment.
  • Recommends and implements system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system; including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
  • Other duties may include creation/maintenance of administrator, user accounts and Virtual Machines, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space, providing backup recovery.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

Qualifications

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related degree plus 3 years of relevant experience or 7 years of relevant experience without a degree.
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: system administration, network equipment configuration; virtual environment management.
  • Ability to author technical documentation, such as use cases, software architectures, system design documents, user manuals, etc.
  • Current, active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance, or higher.
  • Must possess Security + or be able to obtain DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II orhigher within a reasonable timeframe from start date.  (reference: http://iase.disa.mil/iawip/Pages/iabaseline.aspx for list of qualified certifications)

 

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with Virtual Infrastructure Technology
  • Microsoft Operating System experience
  • Security+ Certification or any certification that meets 8570 requirements
