We are currently seeking a Configuration/Systems Engineer on our NASA Programs Configuration Management Office (CMO) team at our Promontory, Utah offices.
Role Description & Responsibilities:
The Configuration/Systems Engineer is responsible for documenting and improving the methods, tools and processes used to establish and control requirements baselines for multiple NASA Programs.
The Configuration/Systems Engineer accordingly completes and/or leads a cross-functional team in completing CM assignments. The Configuration/Systems Engineer functionally reports to the NASA Programs Office, and represents NASA Programs interests in pursuing program-wide and/or division-wide CM-related initiatives.
Prepares and maintains program plans and standard work instructions (SWIs) that define how configuration management will be accomplished on multiple NASA programs
Directly and professionally interfaces with NASA customers, DCMA, functional/integrated product teams, other prime contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in accomplishing CM for NASA programs
Drafts or provides input to policies and procedures that govern CM-related processes, collaborating with stakeholders to identify and pursue CM process improvements
Represents NASA Programs on committees aimed at integrating or standardizing CM-related initiatives across programs and across divisions. Proposes and champions changes to driving requirements, where appropriate
Leads a team of CM, program and engineering professionals, ensuring CM processes are established and implemented through e.g. work instructions and/or training
Ensures data deliverables are submitted in accordance with contract requirements
Represents NASA programs in selection, development, implementation and maintenance of digital tools such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, and design/modeling/production software
Provides expertise and CM solutions in meeting customers and company objectives
Performs troubleshooting and determines solutions for CM-related issues
