Northrop Grumman Technology Services is seeking a Manager Test Pilot Engineering 1 in California, MD.


Additional roles and responsibilities include:

  • Testing aircraft to determine compliance with specification and operational suitability.

  • Operating models of test aircraft during engineering flight tests through specifically prescribed tests and maneuvers.

  • Coordinating flight operations efforts.
  • Approving cockpit configuration.
  • Deputy Manager for RQ-4A BAMS-D Operations and Training Departments.

  • Responsible for Pilot and Sensor Operator Initial Qualification Training, flight and training records, and training plans.

  • Monitoring adherence to SOW and schedule, identifies program problems and recommends solutions.

  • Directing the work of employees assigned to the BAMS-D Training Team.

  • Performing Global Hawk Pilot duties for the program.

  • Serving as Global Hawk pilot for launch, recovery, and sensor operations segments of missions, as required.

  • Participating with customer staff in planning and execution of Global Hawk flight training as directed.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 plus years aviation experience and/or 5 years in Aviation Management.

  • Must be FAA Certified Commercial Single Engine (Airplane) Instrument Rated Pilot with a minimum of 500 flight hours as pilot-in-command of a manned aircraft

  • Secret Clearance required.
  • Must be capable of acquiring an FAA class II medical certificate.

  • If not already current and qualified as a Global Hawk pilot, must be capable of passing initial RQ-4 qualification course or appropriate requalification training.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Class II or higher FAA medical certificate.
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor and/or previous rated military instructor pilot. Qualified Global Hawk Instructor pilot.

  • Military Flight Test experience.
