Production Supervisor

Adaptive Optics Associates Xinetics (AOX), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) Business Venture, is currently seeking a Production Supervisor to support Special Programs activities.

AOA-Xinetics designs, develops, and manufactures precision, advanced optical products and systems such as deformable mirrors, optical systems, adaptive optics control systems and silicon carbide optical structures for the U.S. Government, commercial customers, and U.S. defense prime and second-tier contractors. Markets for these technologies include civilian astronomy and semiconductor capital equipment as well as defense ISR and Directed Energy. Several potential direct and adjacent application areas also exist. The Company has substantial growth opportunities in support of many U.S. Government and NGAS business initiatives.

AOX delivers industrial photonics systems and development services for a variety of customers and applications. AOX excels in a range of applications from adaptive optical systems, deformable mirrors, wavefront sensors, precision actuators, to photonic systems that acquire and process data in real time for a variety of high availability applications. AOXs capabilities include lightweight passive and active hybrid CERAFORM silicon carbide optics and precision structures as well as large and small precision opto-mechanical systems supporting electronics and sophisticated controls software.

The Production Supervisor will coordinate the daily tasks of the manufacturing technician resources for the production operations relating to program and product deliverables within the manufacturing department. Company and department commitments will be communicated through this position to production personnel. Completion of tasks will be monitored and reported on through status update meetings and program reviews.

The Production Supervisor will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This position provides an exciting technical opportunity in a high-growth, strategically important business for NGAS. We are looking for an individual with exceptional people skills. He/she must have a record of collaborative approach with peers/peer organizations. Specifically, the details of the position are the following:

Direct Responsibilities:

Daily supervision of the manufacturing staff
Direct daily assignments of work to meet customer commitments
Monitor work operations of non-exempt staff members on a daily basis and actively assist or provide direction to subordinates as required
Policy management: Executes policies and procedures that typically affect individual subordinate employee
Coordinate with program management and the manufacturing manager staffing requirements for future program  production operations
Monitor jobs to ensure they will be completed on schedule to meet customer commitments
Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption


 



Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in management or engineering discipline. 2-4 years of experience supervising manufacturing team staff members in low volume high value production environment in Aerospace or defenses industry.
  • Experience working with an inventory and / or materials requirements planning (MRP) system
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of an integrated team including technicians, engineers, principal level engineers/scientists along with internal and external customers
  • High level of proficiency in MS Word and Excel; basic experience with PowerPoint
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced, highly technical work environment
  • Responsible self-starter and team player with manufacturing or service experience
  • Great problem solving skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is a bona fide requirement as applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in management or engineering discipline with 4-6 years of experience supervising manufacturing team staff members in low volume high value production environment in Aerospace or defenses industry.
  • Past experience and involvement with production or materials planning
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

Working Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Position is located at AOX East Hartford CT and provides support to the Devens, MA facility as needed
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time and light physical effort required
