Description



Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Flight Test Ground Station Manager supporting the Global Hawk Flight Test Program at Edwards AFB, California to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This individual will serve as the Ground Operations Manager for the Global Hawk Ground Stations focused on the development and implementation of the Global Hawk Ground Station Modernization Program.


 


In conjunction with a complete understanding of the Global Hawk system, this position requires a thorough understanding of GH ground station requirements and operations. Additionally, this individual will have an excellent knowledge of networking administrative principles including; switches, routers, encryptors, LANs, WANs and network security.  This candidate will manage network troubleshooting, as well as network administration activities to include; creation of network accounts, resetting passwords, data management, system patching. This individual will be responsible for maintaining strict configuration management of the Ground Segment and Air Vehicle components that reside at flight test locations. The selected candidate will have oversight of all program ground station personal and systems, including contractors, and will report programmatically to the Edwards AFB GH Flight Test IPT.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for development and implementation of test procedures utilized by the Flight Test IPT.
  • Interface with air vehicle design and analysis functions to develop test and test data requirements.
  • Ensure daily system monitoring to verify integrity of all hardware and software, servers, key processes, and application logs
  • Manage on aircraft/ ground station testing through the system test engineers.
  • Coordinate test equipment and personnel requirements for safe and efficient execution of test requirements.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of test plans, test schedules/procedures for development, pre-production, and flight testing. 
  • Interface with internal and external organizations to develop test and test data requirements. 
  • Specify air vehicle system configurations and coordinate test activity with test operations, instrumentation, and Responsible Engineers.
  • Participate in post-test data evaluation and discrepancy resolution. Perform daily transfer operations for all required file systems and data  
  • Compile flight/ground test data, define changes in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new test requirements.
  • Manage user accounts per request.
  • Manage repairs and recovery from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and communicate with the impacted team.
  • Ensure OS patches and upgrades are completed as directed, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Ensure preparation (pre-flight) of the ground station for all flight and ground testing
  • Interface with internal and external organizations to develop test and test data requirements.
  • Coordinate test planning activity with flight test operations, instrumentation, and Responsible Engineers.
  • Identify and coordinate the availability of test resources and with the Test Conductor/Director and Mission Commander.
  • Participate in post-test data evaluation and discrepancy resolution.
  • Professional interaction with all levels of company leadership as well as government CTF partners and GFR/DCMA representatives is required.
  • Other System Test activities as required.
  • Some travel to support specific GH programs, ground operations organization needs and individual tests are required.


Excellent communication skills are required, must work well in a team environment, and must work independently to solve a variety of complex problems.


 



Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

STEM degree required as well as 5 years of directly related experience in flight test 

- Must have a current DoD Secret security clearance and ability to maintain clearance



Preferred Qualifications: 

Preferred Qualifications:


- 5 years of Global Hawk Flight Test experience


- Prior ground stations systems experience


- Prior Flight Test management experience


- Prior computer system administration and networking experience


- Global Hawk Ground Control station operation and management experience


- CyberSecurity experience
