This position will be responsible to plan, layout and apply all final surface materials and finishes to a completed aircraft or major sub-assembly. Apply materials to meet required surface smoothness and tolerances.
Perform rework, modifications and touch up according to the level of
difficulty of the operations described above.
Use manufacturing engineering planning documents and verbal
instructions to complete operations to established procedures.
Perform the above functions on complete aircraft, aircraft in flight
line, aircraft at other locations and major sub-assemblies.
Provide direction to lower classified personnel. Coordinate
activities with other Surface Mechanics in other areas and other


Basic Qualifications:
- High School/GED and 4 years of related applicator experience.
- Requires complete knowledge and skill of layout and application of all final materials and finishes to exterior and interior surfaces of aircraft, including procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, applicable specifications and safety regulations
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an active US Government security clearance at the Secret level with a background investigation date within the last 10 years.
