Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

 

Our facility in Goleta, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Harness Technician specializing in harnessing, and related electrical assembly and test, with relevant aerospace industry experience working on small, medium and/or large government and commercial programs. This position made be filled at the higher level based on the qualifications listed below. 


 

Job Summary


Must be able to read and follow written instruction as well as interpret and apply technical drawing views and notes. 



  • Must be self-motivated, organized and accountable for personal workload. 
  • Diligent in reviewing, interpreting, maintaining and completing paperwork and electronic data associated with hardware assemblies to maintain data and material traceability. 
  • Requires experience following procedures but also able to work from drawings or sketches, and collaborate with engineers to develop or prove new processes.
  • Generally skilled at reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics. 
  • Experience with electrical harness assemblies is required, including ability to correctly interpret schematics and build compliant electrical assemblies as well as demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical tests such as continuity and insulation resistance.
  • Knowledge of soldering, wire stripping, contact crimping, contact insertion and removal, harness routing and strain relief techniques is required.  Evidence of current or past certification in one or more of these skills is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable with structural bonding and application of coatings using various epoxy and silicone adhesive products.  
  • Working level understanding of force, torque, and precision hand tools.
  • Organizational ability to follow, or determine, optimum order of assembly for complex harnesses, mechanical structures and devices.
  • Basic computer skills are required to effectively perform day-to-day tasks.



Qualifications

Basic Qualification:


Level 3 requirements: High School Diploma and 6 years of relevant work experience or Associates Degree in related discipline and a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience. 


Level 4 requirements: High School Diploma and 8 years of relevant work experience or Associates Degree in related discipline and a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience.


Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree with 10 plus years of relevant work experience in harnessing and electrical assembly in the aerospace industry.
