Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Software Engineer level 3 or 4 to support a NG DoD program. The Software Engineer will be a member of the Engineering & Sciences (E&S) Eastern Region homeroom. Our team is chartered with providing the skills, innovative technologies to design, develop, produce and sustain product lines across while providing a decisive advantage to our customers missions. This User Experience (UX) web designer position will be located in Herndon, VA.


Roles & Responsibilities:


       Analyze, gather requirements, design, development, test, and document on application web design.

       Use creativity and keep up with the latest trends while remaining rooted in solid UX design principles

       Work in close collaboration with external customer and internal development team including conduct user interviews, chair user stories discussion meetings,  analyze UX requirements, bridge gaps between requirements and implementations

       Research, design and develop a consistent look & feel of existing and new onboarding DoD applications under the program umbrella

       Provide UX technical guidance and insight into all development phases to optimize interactive user experience.


The local travel to Pentagon and partner site are required for customer meetings.

Basic Qualifications:


 This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4


Basic Qualifications for a level 3 are a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology field or related STEM degree field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience. 


Basic Qualifications for a level 4 are a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology field or related STEM degree field and a minimum of 9 years of related experience. 


       Must have an active interim Secret Clearance or Secret Clearance    

       Experience with User Experience research, design and development

       Experience with various Content Management Systems, HTML, CSS, Javascript etc

       Experience in conducting user interview, facilitating user requirement discussion and analysis, bridging gaps between user requirements and technical implementation

Preferred Qualifications:


       Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and other industry-standard design tools

       Experience with software development life cycle

       Experience with wireframes, interaction pattern and detail workflow

       Knowledge of translating design into web prototypes or functional front-end UIs

       Knowledge of version control software (Github, SVN etc.), ticket tracking system (JIRA, HP ALM etc.)

       Knowledge of DoD financial processes
