Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is searching for a Senior Operations Project Manager to support a multiple program production environment.  This position will report to the Huntsville Manufacturing Center manager.    The candidate will provide operational support and project leadership for Manufacturing Operations Management by coordinating process improvement activities, evaluating overall staffing requirements, leading capacity evaluations, maintaining future work estimates, developing standardized reporting, and supporting key initiatives.  Candidate will be the focal point for facilities requirements, upgrade activities, and facilities related corrective actions.   Candidate may provide leadership to key manufacturing efforts to ensure that programs and contracts are executable from a MRP standpoint, including schedule and product structures to ensure that the contract is fully met and time phased correctly and according to the contract.  Candidate will standardize manufacturing proposal processes, lead efforts to consolidate data into usable repositories, and provide support to program proposals.  Must be detail oriented and have the desire to constantly improve the production environment. Possess good written communication skills to document work performed, and be a team player. Candidate must be fluent in full Microsoft Office Suite.

This position requires direct interface with the Customer, Program Manager, Business Management, Contracts, Engineering, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Support teams including Production, Production Control, and Quality.  This position will also represent Manufacturing/ Production at program and customer reviews as required; developing and presenting status, data, metrics and charts.




Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors Degree, with at least 15 years of experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) hardware environment in leadership roles of increasing responsibility required. Masters degree and 13 years of DoD experience. 

  • Demonstrated experience developing and presenting briefings to Director and Vice President levels in a DoD environment and/or military experience briefing at the General officer (O-7) level

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts

  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager

  • Demonstrated organizing and executing tasks and projects

  • Previous experience leading and managing teams

  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • PMP Certification

  • Detailed understanding of Earned Value Management

  • Experience supporting DoD proposal activities that includes BOE development, Integrated Master Schedule input, and writing contributions on multiple proposal activities. 

  • Experience with SAP or another Enterprise Resource Planning system

  • Experience defending proposal input in non-advocate reviews and independent cost evaluations

  • Experience in several of the following areas:  Quality/Process Improvement, Materials Resource Planning, Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain Management, Hardware Design Engineering, Mission Assurance, shop floor management, Production Scheduling

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and advanced interconnect diagrams

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts
