Northrop Grumman Maritime Systems business unit, a key supplier of sensor and command and control systems, is seeking a Business Development Manager to support development/marketing activities for our Navy customers, as well as expansion of sales into adjacent and international markets. This position will be located in Linthicum, Maryland andinterface with our customers at locations across the United States and internationally. The position will be responsible for:
- Long range strategic planning and market analysis for the sensor and radar markets;
- Identification, validation, and qualification of opportunities;
- Assessing and shaping near-term and long-term requirements;
- Customer and partner relationship development across multiple levels/functions; and
- Technical/operational/customer/partner knowledge of the sensor and radar business areas.
As manager for Business Development within the Maritime Systems Business Unit Sensor and C2 Operating Unit, this candidate will have responsibility to:
- Ensure customer requirements for current and future systems are understood and incorporated into our solutions;
- Identify and implement business development projects relating to new products and/or industries, technologies, or services;
- Identify gaps and opportunities through an understanding of operational and tactical plans for the employment of sensors and radars.
- Perform analyses on new or improved product opportunities and/or business models and coordinates with internal departments in identifying/implementing business development projects;
- Create and sustain customer relationships in the domestic and international marketplaces;
- Work with engineering staff and potential customers to determine their needs;
- Develop and disseminate information on a continuous basis to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of project goals and objectives;
- Support campaigns and cross Business Unit initiatives; and
- Support business development reporting and metrics tracking.


Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from accredited university;
- Knowledge of The Planning, Programming, and Budgeting Execution (PPBE) process and the budget cycle;
- A minimum of 10 years experience, with 5 years in Business Development, Marketing, Sales, and Strategic Planning or
4 years of service-related resource/requirements or acquisition experience;
- In-depth knowledge of DoD or USN surface fleet operations, requirements and Navy acquisition process;
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance; and
- Knowledge of the business development and capture life-cycle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Bachelors degree from accredited university;
- MA/MS Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies, Engineering, or Financial Management/MBA;
- Understanding of radar design and employment theory;
- Relationships at Naval Sea Systems Command and/or OPNAV;
- Working knowledge of and experience with Congress, OSD, and the military services;
- Working knowledge of the industrial base for the sensors and radars in regulatory, financial, technical, or legislative
- Experience with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program execution and/or international sales; and/or
- Experience with other military services (Army, SOCOM).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
