Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks to fill a Principal Process Integration Engineer position within our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL). ATL is located just outside of Baltimore, MD - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production, as well as emerging programs. We have over 21,000 square feet of Class 100 wafer fabrication cleanroom that supports variants of Si; SiGe; GaAs; SiC. Our team at ATL has the chance to work on both production and development programs, as well as troubleshooting and process improvements. Many people on our team work on more than one product/ program at once, have exposure to other products and development, and fulfill a variety of technical roles. This particular position exists within the process integration group, which is an integral part of the foundry process, interfacing with multiple other foundry groups on a daily basis.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Principal Process Integration Engineer will be focused on Emerging Technologies with opportunities to connect with multiple advanced technologies at various stages in the research and development, and production, including at the wafer and system level.  Ideally this Process Integration Engineer will have diverse experience in the Back-End-Of-Line (BEOL), such as with planarization, TSVs, and bumping, including on gallium nitride.  The Process Integration Engineer must be hands-on in laboratory and semiconductor fabrication environments, and agile in handling multiple, novel material systems and projects.  The role of this Principal Process Integration Engineer will be to lead emerging materials and process development efforts in bringing development programs into production; engaging in development work where no precedent may exist; and interfacing with test, and design engineers to ensure high-quality, comprehensive efforts are integral components of successful programs.

This candidate must have an aptitude for hands-on laboratory and experimental work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Qualifications

 

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or Senior Principal.

Basic Qualifications for Principal:  

- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics or closely related technical major with 5 years of relevant experience (3 years with an MS, or 0 with a PhD)
- Must have an understanding of semiconductor processing and fabrication.
- Must have an aptitude for hands-on laboratory and experimental work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Experience with BEOL processing, including CMP, TSV, and bumping, including but not limited to III-Nitrides.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (US Citizenship is a requirement for this).

 

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal:  

- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics or closely related technical major with 9 years of relevant experience (7 years with an MS, or 4 with a PhD)
- Must have an understanding of semiconductor processing and fabrication.
- Must have an aptitude for hands-on laboratory and experimental work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Experience with BEOL processing, including CMP, TSV, and bumping, including but not limited to III-Nitrides.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (US Citizenship is a requirement for this).

 


Preferred Qualifications:
- Course work in semiconductor processing, analog and microwave electronic circuits, device physics.
- Experience with circuit and electromagnetic modeling (SPICE, ADS, HFSS) and layout.
- DC and RF test analysis and production compound semiconductor engineering experience.
- Experience with semiconductor device physics and transistor design.
- Experience with DOEs, JMP, and statistical analysis.
