Northrop Grumman Mission Systems has an opening for a Principal
Thermal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Thermal Systems Engineer to join
our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in
Linthicum/ Baltimore, MD.
What Youll Get to Do:
As an innovator in the field, Northrop Grumman Mission Systems aims
to be the world leader in novel computing systems architecture and design. Qualified
candidates will have opportunities to incorporate advanced technologies such as
superconducting electronics, novel refrigeration technology, ultra-low
temperature materials and structures, and complex modeling of thermal system
performance, with the goal of developing entirely new kinds of superconducting computing
capability for our customers.
Roles & Responsibilities: Thermal Systems Engineers
work as a team to perform advanced concept development using established
systems engineering approaches. Based on detailed trade studies, requirements
analysis, and modeling and simulations, our engineers develop modern solutions
to satisfy current mission requirements as well as emerging challenges. System engineers are involved in all aspects
of design, which can include:
system and subsystem requirements from user mission needs, and tracking
requirements throughout the development process
new techniques to advance the state of the art in cryostat design
novel connectors and packaging techniques to enable design of efficiently
cooled cryogenic computers
detailed models and simulations of thermal systems for design verification
or to enable operational hardware development
and analyzing data from laboratory or flight tests
verifying that solutions meets requirements
