The Missile Defense & Protective Systems Division of Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation has an opportunity for a rising mid-level Contracts professional to support the operations in the International Battle Management (IBM) Operating Unit located in McLean, VA. The successful candidate will possess leadership qualities, global perspective and be able to provide responsible advice and counsel on a wide range of contractual and business issues under moderate supervision and perform in all matters involving the interpretation and application of company contracting policies and procedures. This global portfolio comprises high visibility captures including those in NG focus countries. 

The successful candidate will also be responsible for all aspects of a global portfolio from the business development phase through closeout, delivering customer satisfaction, building customer relationships and timely responses to both external and internal customers. Demonstrating experience with a global outlook and cultural awareness is key. Assessing situations and making appropriate recommendations and/or taking appropriate actions. Responsibility for prioritizing tasks/proposal activities and working on multiple tasks simultaneously is key. Ensuring that contractual risks are identified and mitigated with appropriate contract provisions. Serve as key business advisor to the program managers on contractual and operational matters. Planning and executing successful contract negotiations of a moderately complex nature and achieving targeted profit rates as well as favorable international terms and conditions to assist in mitigating risk and meeting overall financial goals. Successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, will seek requisite management guidance as necessary and will report directly to the lead Contracts Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for building customer intimacy despite geographical separation as well as be able to effectively cultivate those relationships early on.  Negotiating skillfully in difficult situations, producing sound international contract terms and conditions, teaming agreements, contract amendments/modifications, which are expected to mitigate/minimize company risks for moderately complex contracts. Responsibility includes being able to make decisions in a timely manner under tight deadlines and pressure, offers guidance and work collaboratively with a multitude of organizations ranging from technical, program, finance, global supply chain, global mobility office and security for seamless contract administration.

duties include ability to: administer, extend, negotiate and terminate standard and nonstandard contracts. Conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. Examines estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepares bids; processes specifications, progress, and other reports; advises management of contractual rights and obligations; compiles and analyzes data; and maintains historical information.


Basic Qualifications:
  • 3 Years with Bachelors; 1 Year with Masters in Contract administration or related field. 
  • Knowledge of pricing principles and FAR/DFARS and associated Federal Contracting regulations a must.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment to proposal strategy, contract formation and customer relationships.
  • Exceptional organizational, verbal and written communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Secret clearance or ability to obtain one is a plus.
