Northrop Grumman Mission System is seeking a qualified Cyber Network Engineer for an established Satellite Communications (SATCOM) program that provides secure DoD communications around the world. The position may require travel to SATCOM sites both CONUS and OCONUS. The position is located in Orlando, FL.

The Network Engineer will be involved in planning, designing, installing, maintaining, securing, and monitoring local area networks (LANs) and network security (STIGs, Audits, Reports). Specifications and detailed hardware and software schematics, implementation plans, and tools required to efficiently meet current and future business needs will be documented using MS Office tools including Visio.

Day to day operations will require the engineer to monitor, analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training. The candidate will have many responsibilities such as:
Creating or assisting with network architecture design
Creating or assisting with system administration and design (e.g. installing virtual servers, configuring active directory)
Troubleshooting malfunctions, diagnosing failures, determining root cause, developing fix actions, and executing recovery solutions on hardened computing platforms
Ensuring system security requirements are established and maintained from test and evaluation through operations
Recommending courses of action during risk assessment, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
Presenting status or recommendations in customer meetings, or at a minimum providing input to be presented
Interfacing as required with external entities including law enforcement, intelligence and other government organizations and agencies
Maintaining a development lab and working with other teams to maintain/upgrade an integration lab with other SATCOM subsystems

The ideal candidate should be comfortable interacting directly with end customers, or internal company management and executives. They should also have a broad knowledge of IT systems, the impacts of system hardening on those systems, and experience diagnosing and resolving issues caused by system hardening.

This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications below.



This requisition may be filled at either the Principal or Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer

Basic Qualifications:

Education/Experience for Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD./ Degree must be in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university

Education/Experience for Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD./ Degree must be in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university

Basic Qualifications for Both Levels:
Meet DoD 8570 certification requirements (e.g., Security+ certification, CISSP) OR ability to obtain one within 6 months
US Citizenship is required and must have current DoD Secret security clearance
Strong troubleshooting skills
Demonstrated knowledge of LAN/WAN configuration and security strategies
Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory configuration to include Group Policy, Certificate Services, and Forest/Domain trusts
Knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and applying Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to network equipment
The ability to work individually or as part of a team, requiring little supervision, in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels:
Cisco CCNA, CCNA Security, or more advanced certifications
Expertise in configuring Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls
Demonstrated knowledge of installing and configuring Windows operating systems and applications
Demonstrated knowledge of virtualization at network and server level (e.g. Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare ESXi/VSphere)
