Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems is currently seeking a Production Manager 1 - Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Rocket Center, West Virginia just outside of Cumberland, Maryland. The Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) site in Rocket Center designs; develops and manufactures tactical rocket motors, medium caliber ammunition, composite components and end items, and fuze and electronics equipment. For decades, the dedicated and highly skilled team at ABL have supported national security efforts by developing and building defense systems for DoD customers and U.S. allies. 

Position Duties:

  • Ensures a safe working environment maintained at all times.
  • Develops procedures for electrical repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Inspects work performed to ensure work is within code and aligns to the scope of the work.
  • Interprets, recommend, and executes processes/procedures that affect direct reports.
  • Plans and schedules projects, including estimating of time and materials, while maintaining accurate records.
  • Provides technical support to engineering staff in the maintenance (routine and non-routine) of manufacturing equipment.
  • Supports Facilities Projects as required.
  • Ensures adequate parts supply for critical spare parts and equipment.
  • Reviews results for timeliness, quality, and cost effectiveness to support departmental goals.
  • Aligns resources to projects to ensure an efficient and effective method.
  • Interacts frequently with direct reports and managers concerning operations of equipment and scheduling of work assignments.
  • Partners with other maintenance areas to coordinate job assignments to ensure work is being performed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Develops, coordinates and schedules safety and procedure training within established guidelines.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in a related field or Technical School certification in the Trades or 5-10 year continuous service experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in an Industrial setting.

  • Availability and willingness to work a variety of shifts, as needed, which may include 2nd or 3rd shift

  • Prior experience working with overhead power distribution.

  • Ability to provide sound judgment to ensure overall quality and efficiency of the department.

  • Strong electrical background and experience with trades.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude

  • Prior experience supervising in a manufacturing unionized environment

  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic equipment and Natural Gas Stream generation

  • Knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatic, HVAC, Fabrication, Welding etc.

  • Knowledgeable of PLC programming and interfaces

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing techniques

  • Prior experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Dispatch, Maximo etc.

This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location.  Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
