Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Rome, NY is looking for Systems Engineers to work in a leading edge research environment with cutting edge technologies relative to the development and integration of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) collection, processing, exploitation, analysis and dissemination capabilities. In this position, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work in a team to plan, design, develop, implement, stage, assess and transition capabilities required by the client to meet operational requirements.
  • Perform system engineering and integration within an agile development process.
  • Utilize modeling and simulation, requirements analysis and scheduling tools to manage complexity.
  • Access systems to address requirements, gaps and alternatives.
  • Develop high-level and detailed system design artifacts in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) architecture framework to include air, cyber and space domains.
  • Recommend solutions, products, services and best practices to fit customer needs.
  • Travel of 5%-10% may be required.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related STEM field plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a Master of Science degree in a related STEM field plus 0 years of experience.
  • Systems integration experience.
  • Familiarity with virtualization
  • Familiarity with cloud computing technologies
  • Ability to work on small multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Must possess or be able to obtain DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher within a reasonable timeframe from start date.  (reference: http://iase.disa.mil/iawip/Pages/iabaseline.aspx for list of qualified certifications) 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current, DoD Secret clearance, or higher
  • Experience deploying software systems within a Cloud environment
  • Linux/Windows shell scripting
  • Amazon Web Services Certification
  • Familiarity with Service Oriented Architectures
  • Familiarity with software accreditation and certification
  • Familiarity with one or more of:
    • PaaS (platform as a service), SaaS (software as a service) and/or IaaS (infrastructure as a service).
    • Atlassian Tool Suite ( BitBucket, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus)
    • AWS CloudFormation and/or deployment automation
    • Docker and/or Container Services
