Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is actively recruiting Cyber Systems Engineering team members to support multiple Cyber Security programs at Joint Base San Antonio. You will be working with our experienced engineering team developing industry leading platforms to support Department of Defense cyber efforts.

We're looking for a highly motivated individual with an impeccable work ethic and a strong ability to work in a collaborative fast-moving dynamic team environment. You will perform technical, operational, and security risk analysis for new changes and technologies and articulate risks in a succinct manner.  You must be able to quickly adapt new technologies to avoid limitations & obsolescence of both hardware and software. The successful candidate has a willingness to dive deep, experiment rapidly, and get things done.

Job Responsibilities:
Cyber systems administration personnel who possess in-depth knowledge of principles, concepts and techniques for maintaining and operating complex cyber systems. Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
 
We are looking for self-motivated, hands-on systems administrators with working knowledge across all described skill areas and at least 5 years of demonstrated professional work experience in one or more of the below prioritized skill areas:

  • Linux System Administration: Deep understanding of disparate Linux environments e.g. RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu. Professional work experience implementing best practice security hardening, patching, granular role-based access, system administration, and configuration. Experience with LDAP and distributed system management tools. Working knowledge of Linux system internals, kernel modules, file systems, partitions. Distributed system troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Windows System Administration: Proficient administrator across multiple Windows versions including both server and desktop varieties. Experience managing medium to large heterogeneous domains using Active Directory, Group Policy, WSUS. Demonstrated ability to audit and identify anomalous behavior across the managed domain. Professional work experience implementing best practice security hardening, patching, granular role-based access, system administration, and configuration. Working knowledge of Windows system internals, kernel mode operations, file system internals, operating within PowerShell. Distributed system troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Hypervisor Administration: Experience managing virtualization environments such as VMware vCenter/ESXi, Hyper-V, KVM, Xen using advanced virtual networking and/or software defined networking. Experience or understanding in deploying high volume configurations in a VDI environment. Understanding of best practice security concerns in virtualized environments including containerization, restricted user permission space, process permission restrictions, and security threats in hypervisor environments.
  • Network Engineering: Understanding and experience of all layers of OSI model. Demonstrated administration of network devices within a moderate scale network. Experience in network packet capture and analysis, ACL implementation, firewall configuration and administration, security patching, OS updates, network monitoring. Advanced vendor specific certifications demonstrating acquired knowledge is preferred.
  • DevSecOps: Maintain programs and scripts in various languages including C, Perl, Python, PowerShell, etc. Automate scheduled jobs to reduce labor intensive tasks. Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodology, understanding of development release cycle and operations, Source Control and Versioning tools, Continuous Integration Frameworks, Application Containerization, Automation Deployment Tools. Integrate security deeply into the DevOps process, with a particular emphasis in security automation and isolation/containerization.

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.

Level 3 Basic Qualifications:
6 Years of experience with a Bachelors degree; OR 4 Years of experience with Masters degree; OR 10 years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Prior experience with infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) or Platform as a service (PaaS)
Working knowledge in each of the following skill areas: Linux System Administration, Windows System Administration, Hypervisor Administration, Network Engineering, DevSecOps
Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance

Level 3 Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing high availability networked systems
Experience managing widely geographically distributed systems
Experience in Agile practices
Experience in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Experience managing Cloud-based systems or backup/disaster recovery best practices
Active certification in CISSP, CCNA, CASP, GCIH, or equivalent
Active Top Secret security clearance
Bachelor's or higher degree in a technical field
