Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Autonomous Systems Design Center of Excellence in San Diego, CA.


The Manager will be assigned to work in the Global Logistics & Modernization (GLM) organization and will be responsible to manage the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the DMSMS team, to include:


  • Daily tasking of team members in support of the Autonomous Systems portfolio of programs
  • Lead team and individual contributor collaboration with systems engineers, hardware design engineers and integration/test engineers 

  • Engage senior management to ensure coordination and integration of DMS resolution activities

  • Prioritization of team work tasking and distribution of personnel resources required to execute program statement of work

  • Staffing and workforce management, to include performance reviews, promotions and career coaching

  • Administrative management functions (timecards, travel approvals, etc.)   

Experience is required in the following essential functions:

  • Gather, collect, record, track and verify data from multiple sources and maintain DMS records
  • Facilitate DMS resolution activities including hosting meetings, briefings, and discussion topics; preparation of agendas and minutes

  • Participate in ad hoc committees/meetings and working groups

  • Analyze and predict production and sustainment requirements to construct strategic DMS roadmaps for end-of-life subsystems and components

  • Work with suppliers to ensure DMS issues are resolved at the lowest cost while maintaining high quality and reliability

  • Develop metrics for evaluating effectiveness of DMS activities

  • Ability to work with suppliers to ensure DMS issues are resolved at the lowest cost while maintaining high quality and reliability

Basic Qualifications: 


  • Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of engineering experience
  •  Basic knowledge in DMS Discipline

  • Ability to obtain Secret DoD clearance and program access 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering Degree

  • Intermediate knowledge of DMS discipline

  • Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

  • Program management experience, including planning, cost, schedule, technical performance, risk/opportunity, budget management
