Northrop Grumman Navigation and Maritime Systems Division, is seeking an experienced and motivated professional for an entry level role in our Contract Administration department. The successful candidate will join the organization as a Contracts Representative supporting our Maritime Systems business unit in Sykesville, MD.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Administers, extends, negotiates and terminates standard and nonstandard production, spares, repairs and field service contracts

  • Conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications

  • Examines estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness

  • Prepares bids; processes specifications, progress, and other reports; advises management of contractual rights and obligations; compiles and analyzes data; and maintains contract files and historical information

  • Support audits, reviews, fact-finding, and negotiation support requested by programs, customers, and company management. 

  • Maintain and update contract documents and official program records, including contractual documents and correspondence

  • Research contract issues and prepare analysis with citations

  • Provide direct contract support, review contractual documents to ensure protection of company's contractual/risk posture, satisfaction of contractual requirements and adherence to company policies. 

  • Develop proposal packages, in a timely manner and in accordance with established procedures

  • Provide proposal support including taking an active role in creating contract proposal volumes, supporting fact finding and the negotiation process. 

  • Maintain and provide status and tracking information on customer requests

  • Work cooperatively with the technical staff to address customer requests

Candidates must be able to make sound decisions in a timely manner, display strong interpersonal skills, possess solid written and verbal communication skills, and have an agile perspective or compliance protocol mandated by regulated industry.


Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • A Bachelor's degree and 3 years of successful experience in Contract Administration, and/or Business Management or related field or 1 year with a Masters Degree or J.D.

  • Analytical approach to problem-solving and decision-making

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word

  • Demonstrated proficiency and strength with verbal, written, PC, presentation and communications skills

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Recent experience as a Contracts Professional in the defense industry

  • Proficiency and experience supporting sole source and competitive acquisitions

  • Knowledge of the FAR, DFAR and other U.S. Federal Government contracting regulations

  • Experience with various contract types including Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Cost Reimbursable, and Time and Material contracts

  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman businesses, policies and practices

  • Strong interpersonal skills
