Northrop Grumman is searching for an Army Research Project Officer to join our dynamic and diverse team environment in Columbus, Georgia. 


The Army Research Project Officer will lead the planning and execution of Army research efforts in support of the US Army Research Institute (ARI) and other government agencies. Past projects include:

  • Behavioral Science (e.g., far transfer of learning, mitigating negative transfer, and complex cognitive skill assessment)
  • Training and Development Research (e.g., individual Soldier performance, PME self-development, and leader development)

  • Human-Machine Collaboration (e.g., manned-unmanned teaming, natural language processing, and non-primed response assessment)

  • Soldier Skills (e.g., air and missile defense operations, warrior skills/battle drills, and dismounted infantry skills) 

Job Duties:

  • Developing research designs, performing literature reviews, collecting field data, conducting small-group interviews, analyzing existing databases, Performing descriptive analyses
  • Describing the results of research through briefings and technical reports. Ensuring quality, timeliness, and accuracy of research products

  • Interfacing with customers and sponsors to meet their requirements, and assisting in the implementation of research findings and products

  • Presenting to Army personnel, observing training events, capturing details of training events, and assessing training outcomes

  • Working as part of a team, devising analytical approaches, developing data collection instruments, and collating data from various sources

  • Applying appropriate techniques to analyze data, drawing conclusions from the results, and providing sound recommendations that meet the customer requirements

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree with a minimum of 3 years of related writing and research experience OR a Masters degree with a minimum of 1 year of related writing and research experience

  • Experience providing project briefings to military or government representatives

  • The ability to work in a team setting with scientists, technical writers, information technology specialists, policy makers and Government stakeholders

  • A Secret security clearance (or higher) OR a U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience with the U.S. Army or applied research experience in an Army setting

  • A Masters Degree in Psychology, Operations Research, Business, or Education

  • Extensive experience with military research programs

  • Experience working with technical reports, research reports or other reports as the primary author

  • Experience managing personnel and projects

  • An Active SECRET security level clearance
