Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Drafts detailed drawings for fabrication. Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Analyzes data and recommends modifications to components or test procedure to meet desired specifications.
Role Description & Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Tech will
Plan the methods and procedures required to provide technical support for scientific or engineering programmatic work.
Design support hardware components according to guidelines for prototype or one of a kind items.
Recognize design deficiencies or malfunctions where immediate determinations regarding causes and needed corrections are required.
Daily responsibilities will require direct contact with space launch vehicle hardware and solid rocket motors.
Perform a wide variety of non-standard tasks in the mechanical and electrical areas.
Perform both mechanical and electrical structural analysis set-ups.
Maintain proper documentation records for all flight hardware assembly, integration and test activities.
Some business travel may be required.
Candidate should have a minimum of six years of related experience.
Ability to travel :Travel expectation of 0-20%
U.S. citizenship required.
Ability to obtain a security clearance
Must be able to read technical drawings and use basic hand tools.
