Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for either a Principal Accountant (Level 3) or Sr. Principal Accountant (Level 4) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The selected candidate will report to the Manager of Accounting and support billing activities. This position is located on site in El Segundo, CA or Melbourne, FL with partial telework available.

The position is for a senior level professional accountant, reporting to the Manager of Accounting supporting Billing Activities. The successful candidate must be detailed oriented, have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and should have strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills. The selected individual will play a key role in supporting the Manager of Billing activities and will work with their team to ensure strong processes and controls are in place and will provide value added services to our partner sectors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Apply principles of accounting to compile and analyze financial information to prepare Government and Commercial

billings (Cost Type, Time and Material, Firm Fixed Price Progress Payments, Milestones, and Performance Based

Payments) and perform detailed analysis of billings, collections in support of NGAS Business Sector contracts

- Preparation, review and submission of highly complex customer billings

- Review customer billings prepared by staff for compliance of contract terms and conditions and established department

policies and procedures

- Maintain and oversees collection of aged billed receivables

- Prepares other accounting schedules and reports, review and verify accuracy

- Designs, modifies, installs, and or maintains accounting systems to ensure adequate recognition of financial transactions

- Support monthly cash collection and forecasting goals

- Heavy interface with internal and external customers

- Adheres to accounting and auditing policies and procedures

- Support DCAA incurred costs and billing audits

- Special projects as needed

This position maybe filled at either a Principal Accountant (Level 3) or Sr. Principal Accountant (Level 4)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Accountant (Level 3) - Bachelor's Degree with 6 years of Accounting experience OR a Master's Degree with 4 years of stated experience

  • Sr. Principal Accountant (Level 4) - Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of Accounting experience OR a Master's Degree with 8 years of stated experience

  • Experience with Excel pivot tables and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to work on site in El Segundo, CA or Melbourne, FL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP One Source and Business Warehouse (BW) expertise

  • Familiarity with GAAP, FAR, CAS, IFRS

Melbourne, FL:

Principal Accountant (Level 3) - $65,800.00 - $ 98,800.00

Sr Principal Accountant (Level 4) - $81,600.00 - $122,400.00

El Segundo, CA

Principal Accountant (Level 3) - $76,200.00 - $114,400.00

Sr Principal Accountant (Level 4) - $94,500.00 - $ 141,700.00

This position reports to El Segundo, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Melbourne, FL, FL, USA.


Salary Range: $65,800 USD - $114,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $81,600 USD - $141,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
