Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for either a Principal Contract Administrator 3 or Sr. Principal Contract Administrator 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located on site in San Diego, CA or Palmdale, CA

Essential Functions:
  • Administers, extends, negotiates and terminates standard and nonstandard contracts
  • Conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications
  • Examines estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Prepares bids
  • Processes specifications, progress and other reports
  • Advises management of contractual rights and obligations
  • Compiles and analyzes data and maintains historical information

This position may be filled as a Principal Contract Administrator 3 or Senior Principal Contract Administrator 4.

Basic Qualifications for the Level 3 are:
  • Bachelor's degree with 6 years of experience or a Master's degree with 4 years of experience in contracts management /administration and/or industry related experience
  • Active DOD Top Secret Clearance, with investigation completed within the last 5 years, as well as ability to obtain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Ability to travel to multiple company sites when needed

  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience or a Master's degree with 8 years of experience in contracts management /administration and/or industry related experience
  • Active DOD Top Secret Clearance, with investigation completed within the last 5 years, as well as ability to obtain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Ability to travel to multiple company sites when needed

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prime Contract administration experience
  • 3 more years' Government contracts management
  • Knowledge, Skills and Ability Contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards. Considered expert in field within the organization. Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform complex tasks. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
  • Problem Solving Develops solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
  • Discretion/Latitude Most assignments are complex and performed independently without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
  • Impact affects of decisions are long-lasting and heavily influence the future course of the organization. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would result in the expenditure of large amounts of company resources as well as problems with customer satisfaction.
  • Liaison Serves as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives. Acts as an advisor to senior management and customers.

This position reports to San Diego, CA, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Palmdale, CA, CA, USA.


Salary Range: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD
Salary Range 2: $103,900 USD - $155,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
