Northrop Grumman Space Components Business Unit designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. The Group is leading supplier of space components that power and enable satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.

The Space Components Division is seeking a Principal/Program Scheduling Analyst to join our team.  This position is located in San Diego, CA and can be filled at either Level 2 or 3.

As a Program Scheduling Analyst, this position prepares, develops and coordinates the integrated master plan and integrated master schedule to meet all program objectives. Ensures major projects and program schedules and plans are horizontally and vertically integrated across company functional groups including finance, engineering, material, manufacturing, and quality. Tracks plans and schedules, performs risk analysis, identifies and resolves critical path and network logic conflicts. Utilizes Gantt, PERT, milestone charts, earned value management and other project management techniques to gauge progress and identify performance variances to facilitate focus and intervention on critical areas.

JOB Responsibilities

  • Provide program planning and scheduling support to internal and external customers (typically Program/Proposal/Product team Managers, CAMs, task leads, etc.). This includes gathering of source planning data, logical sequencing of activities, establishing activity durations and loading of resources in an Integrated Master Schedule Network for the purpose of providing status reporting and earned value analysis of work performed against the approved baseline plan.

  • Review subcontractor schedule submissions to determine compliance to subcontract requirements and communicated corrective actions as needed.

  • Implement automated planning software to perform schedule analysis and reporting, including critical path analysis and assessment, schedule risk assessments, schedule health metrics analysis.

  • Gather and compile information to create summary level and detailed program/project network schedules utilizing automated planning software.

  • Periodically gather status information to update and analyze the "time now" status of baselined program networks, advise managers of schedule critical paths and, when requested, recommend alternative schedules and recovery plans.

  • Perform analysis of program resource "consumables" (time, manpower, facilities use, materials, etc.) to determine the "earned value" or work performed. Maintain CM database, Test Lab Database, MRP or PLM system by entering new and updated customer and documentation information in the support program needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Level 2 - 3 years of experience performing Schedule management and analysis with a Bachelors degree. 4 years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Level 3 - 6 years of experience performing Schedule management and analysis with a Bachelors degree. 4 years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Experience scheduling in an Earned Value management environment with working knowledge and experience with scheduling in a compliant EVMS environment, including familiarity with government requirements.

  • Proficiency with MS Project, MS Excel and MS Word is required.

  • US Citizenship

Preferred qualifications

  • Active TS-SCI preferred, but not required

  • Aerospace/defense industry experience

  • Manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment

  • Work in a team environment, including immediate supervisor and other team members in the group

  • Problem solving, critical thinking and investigative skills

  • Interact professionally with all organizational levels


Salary Range: $68,100 USD - $102,100 USD
Salary Range 2: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
