Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking a Business Management Manager 1 for the Mission Exploitation Systems Operating Unit.

This position can be located in Aurora, CO or Dulles, VA.

In this role, the selected candidate will partner with the Operating Unit Director and Business Manager to manage program financials and Earned Value to achieve the Operating Unit’s financial and strategic objectives.  

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate and lead business management functions including but not limited to financial forecasting, Earned Value Management, monthly reporting, etc.
  • Provide direct management for a team of Business Management analysts.
  • Provide financial business analysis and reporting with the ability to clearly communicate with senior management as it relates to financial program status and analyses.
  • Develop business strategy and forecasting, through internal or external deliverables such as the Monthly IF and the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Manage program Earned Value Management System processes and reporting and coordinate monthly rhythm with appropriate stakeholders
  • Coordinate cost and schedule analyses and preparation of reports to ensure contracts are within negotiated and agreed-upon cost and schedule parameters and government cost control guidelines.
  • Develop and brief Quarterly Estimates at Complete to OU, BU, Division, and Sector leadership
  • Develop professional and management talent within the Operating Unit.
  • Support program proposal activities to ensure an appropriate business deal
  • Providing accurate, timely, and supported inputs to business systems supporting financial forecasting and profitability determination.

The candidate will maintain the highest level of commitment to quality, compliance and internal controls in adherence to company values and ethics.  The position may require some travel to customer and other off-site locations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business related discipline with 5 years of related job experience - OR - a Masters degree in Business related discipline with 3 years of job related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop talent
  • Demonstrated experience with cost and schedule controls and EVMS
  • Experience developing business strategy and forecasting, through internal or external deliverables such as Monthly IF or Annual Operating Plan
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and business planning systems such as Cognos and Cobra
  • Understanding of DOD contracts, government Cost Accounting Standards, and the FAR/DFARS.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business related discipline and a minimum of 6 years of demonstrated successful job experience
  • Direct program EVMS and Cobra experience with full external earned value contracts and adjacent reporting
  • Familiarity with the risk management process and proposal activities

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This position reports to Aurora, CO, USA, however, you are able to work from any of the additional 2 locations listed above.


Salary Range: $94,300 USD - $148,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
